Application invited for media fellowship programme

The six-month long fellowship programme is open to journalists working in the print media with a minimum experience of three years, and freelancers can also apply, MACS stated

The Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) has invited applicants for the 2nd Manipur State AIDS Control Society Media Fellowship, 2022.

This six-month long fellowship programme is open to journalists working in the print media with a minimum experience of three years, and freelancers can also apply, MACS stated in a release on Thursday.

It stated that two journalists will be selected and the selected fellows will receive a stipend of only Rs 50,000 to support their research, travel and writing in two installments.

The last date for submission of application is July 30 and the selection process will be carried out by a jury of MACS officials, it stated.

It mentioned that at the time of submitting applications, the applicants must submit their bio-data, along with a letter of support from their respective editors, stating that the output under the fellowship will be mandatorily published. The applicants must also submit a brief proposal outlining the subject and story ideas that they propose to focus, if selected for the fellowship, it stated. 

The applicants must at least submit three samples of work published earlier on HIV/AIDS (Preference will be given to latest published works), it added.

MACS further stated that selected applicants from the print media will be expected to generate eight news stories of 1,500 words each, based on the research carried out under the fellowship. Original clippings of these articles/stories will have to be submitted on the completion of the fellowship programme, it added.

MACS also mentioned that the applications should be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the project director, Manipur State AIDS Control Society, New Secretariat, Western Block Annexe, Room No. 212.
