The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has further delayed its proposed resumption of suspended agitation following a “fervent” request made again by the “Naga Legislators’ Forum to the student body on behalf of the state government to give them another few more days to fulfill the legitimate demands of the association”.
This was stated by the ANSAM in a statement on Tuesday.
The ANSAM was supposed to resume its suspended agitation from November 27.
The Naga student body has been demanding for declaration of the results of Assistant Professors 190 (145+45 ST Special drive) posts and opening of mobile internet in the entire areas where it is not affected by violence.
“While acknowledging the initiatives of the state government in partial opening of the internet connectivity in some parts of the district headquarters not affected by violence, the ANSAM would like to urge the government to provide internet in all the interior areas of the state not affected by violence and also to declare the results of assistant professors posts promptly as per the assurance,” the Naga student body demanded.
The Naga student body then cautioned that, failing to fulfill the assurance this time, the Naga Legislators’ Forum and the state government will be held responsible for all the failures and degradation of the education sector especially in the hills of Manipur.
The ANSAM also said it can no longer tolerate the “lackadaisical attitude of the government on the educational institutions in the hills”.
