AMWJU to take legal action against misuse of press sticker by non-journalists in Manipur

The AMWJU said it considers misusing of press sticker in conflict zone like Manipur as a very serious offence.

Taking serious note of misuse of press sticker on vehicles especially four wheelers by non-journalists in Manipur, the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) in collaboration with the state police will be taking up a drive to take legal action against those imposter journalists.

It had come to the notice that some imposter journalists have been using the press sticker and has been taking up activities to tarnish the image of journalists in Manipur, said AMWJU in a release on Monday.

"We consider such act as a challenge to the rights of journalists and it puts media fraternity in a negative manner," AMWJU said.

There are incidents were such imposter journalists have been arrested by the police in other states, it said.

The AMWJU said that it considered misusing of press sticker in conflict zone like Manipur as a very serious offence.

Appealing to non-journalists to remove press sticker from their respective vehicles within a week's time, the press union stated that complaint will be lodged to the DGP, Manipur if any non-journalists are found to be using the press sticker after a week's time.

The drive will be taken up in all districts to check any misuses of press sticker, AMWJU added.
