AMWJU team visits pineapple farmers

AMWJU conducted a two-day media sensitisation programme on horticulture schemes in relation to the Golden Jubilee Celebration of AMWJU.

A team of journalists led by the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) visited the pineapple farmers of Thayong and Thamaram Tangkhul village, Imphal East district on Friday.

The visit was held under the aegis of Directorate of Horticulture and Soil Conservation.

During an interaction with the pineapple farmers, one Florence said that she can earn around Rs 3 to 4 lakh annually but they plant ginger in off-season. People come to buy pineapple while the horticulture department also buys from them during season, she said.

It may be mentioned that AMWJU conducted a two-day media sensitisation programme on horticulture schemes in relation to the Golden Jubilee Celebration of AMWJU.

A one-day field visit at pineapple farms and interaction with farmers was a part of the two-day event.
