AMWJU suspends two journalists for five months

AMWJU stated that the two journalists have been placed under suspension for a period of five months with immediate effect as per a resolution of the Standing Committee in its meeting held on Wednesday.

The All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) on Thursday suspended two of its members for allegedly going against the ethics of journalism.

The two journalists, namely S Gautam Sharma of North East Live and N Sanajaoba of Paojel Daily had committed acts which are thereby lowering the dignity of the journalists in general and AMWJU in particular, AMWJU stated in a release.

AMWJU stated that the two journalists have been placed under suspension for a period of five months with immediate effect as per a resolution of the Standing Committee in its meeting held on Wednesday.

During their suspension period, the two will lose all rights and privileges of being a member of AMWJU, it mentioned.

AMWJU further stated that it expects that all members of the union shall abide by the code of ethics of journalists and the two shall refrain from committing such infractions in the future.
