The All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) on Thursday extended wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Ningol Chakouba Festival which is celebrated every 2nd day of the Hiyanggei month of the Meitei lunar calendar.

A release by AMSU stated the students’ union extends the well wishes to all the Meitei and celebrants outside of the state.

Wishing for stronger sibling bonds between the different communities of the state, AMSU looks forward to better days with no crime against women, it added.

Appealing to safeguard the true value of the celebration from deviating into a gift-competition, AMSU urged the celebrants to maintain humility preserving the tradition, it also stated.

It appealed to the traders and shopkeepers not to take advantage of the festive rush and hike the price of essential commodities.
