All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) on Friday took a swipe at Manipur BJP president A Sharda Devi over her statement allegedly supporting the 10 Kuki BJP MLAs who are demanding separate administration, stating that the prevailing communal conflict in the State was caused by the former government.
AMNM, in a release, condemned Sharda’s statement to the media on October 26, and asserted that the same is a grave challenge to the various civil society organisations, Meira Paibi associations, women vendors groups and political parties of the state.
It also mentioned Sharda’s controversial statement at Thambal Sanglen on October 23 that no BJP MLA is demanding separate administration, which attracted wide condemnation from the people. It accused her of remaining ignorant of the root cause of the issue and further mooted the removal of A Sharda from her post as Manipur BJP president.
The 10 Kuki MLAs publicly raised the demand for a separate administration on May 12, urged the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister to fulfil their demands and even held meetings with the Mizoram Chief Minister regarding the same, it pointed out.
It questioned Sharda whether she had no clue of the same or if she consciously denied the same. The public is well aware of the complaint raised to the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker demanding to suspend the 10 Kuki MLAs, following which the Ethics Committee sent a show cause notice to the Kuki MLAs over the separate administration demand, it stated.
Sharda’s statement openly supporting the Kukis and attributing the root cause of the issue to the previous government indicates that she lacks in-depth political knowledge, it alleged.
AMNM will extend solidarity to any initiatives taken by the CSOs against the Manipur BJP president over her controversial statement, it added.
