The Apunba Keithel Sinnaibi Lup (AKSIL) on Thursday alleged Union Home Minister Amit Shah of being partial with the two warring communities by giving different time bound for bringing peace and demanded the revocation of SoO with the Kuki militants.

Addressing the media at the Manipur Press Club, AKSIL president Khamnam Sobhabati Devi said that Kuki militants are pouring out their anger on the innocent Meitei people as they could not turn to the government for their eviction from protected and reserve forest areas and destruction of poppy plantation.

She said that the reason for the demand of a separate administration by the Kuki militants is because of the action taken by the government against drug smuggling and poppy plantation. She said that the Kuki militants are angry as the government had evicted encroachers from the Protected and Reserved Forest Area of the state. Those militants had turned their guns towards the innocent Meitei people, she said.

The Union home minister visited Manipur and met with all stakeholders of both sides. However, he played the divide and rule policy and while speaking with the stakeholders, he did not inform what were the talks and what terms and conditions agreed, she said.

“We do not want rice but it is like he came to distribute rice”, she said, adding that the union home minister gave 10 days to Meitei and 15 days to Kuki for bringing peace. If after 10 days, it turns against the Meitei community and peace alludes, we will initiate a strong agitation with the support of the general public, she added.
