AMGSU Charhajare unit president kidnapped

All Manipur Gorkha Students’ Union president LB Adhikari told the media that unknown armed miscreants who came in a white car from Kangpokpi side kidnapped Roshan Uprety, AMGSU president Charhajare Unit and moved towards the Imphal side.

Unknown armed miscreants reportedly kidnapped All Manipur Gorkha Students’ Union Manipur, Charhajare unit president on Sunday afternoon at Charhajare bazaar in Kangpokpi district.

The kidnapped president of AMGSU Charhajare Unit is also a teacher of Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya, Charhajare, and the Treasurer of Navin Gorkha Youth Club, Charhajare.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 6.30 pm.

All Manipur Gorkha Students’ Union president LB Adhikari told the media that unknown armed miscreants who came in a white car from Kangpokpi side kidnapped Roshan Uprety, AMGSU president Charhajare Unit and moved towards the Imphal side.

Roshan Uprety was with one of his friends when the incident happened. When his friend tried to rescue him, the kidnappers shot one round of bullets and whisked him away, he added.

Mammoth enraged mobs gathered at Charhajare bazaar after the incident and attempted to disrupt the traffic flow by imposing a flash bandh along the National Highway 2.

However, AMGSU leaders led by its president LB Adhikari with the help of the Kangpokpi police attempted to subside the angry mobs in imposing such lightning bandh along the highway.

“We are not in favour of the sudden blockade of the highway over the incident as it will render untold miseries and hardships to innocent commuters”, asserted LB Adhikari.

However, he said that if our member Roshan Uprety is not released safe and sound without any conditions within 24 hours, we will decide our course of action.

The AMGSU president also drew the attention of the state government and authorities concerned to find the kidnapped person and rescue him safe and sound.
