Association of Manipur Diaspora (AMAND) Pune on Monday stated that the association observed the 82nd Nupi Lal memorial at the residence of the president of AMAND on Sunday.
A release by AMAND stated the function was attended physically and virtually via online zoom video conference. Speaking on the occasion, vice president of AMAND Soubam Subhachandra Singh welcomed the attendees and briefed on the historic incidents of the Nupi Lan of 1904 and 1939, it stated.
Followed by floral tribute to the Nupi Lal Memorial statue, president of AMAND N Giridhar Singh and other senior members of AMAND spoke on the importance of unity, and highlighted on the need for remembering the great women uprising of the state, against the discriminatory and unjust British policies, which had set new roads for social and administrative reforms in Manipur as early as the 1940s.
