The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has started the process to elect representatives from block to state level for taking part in the upcoming All India Congress Committee (AICC) presidential election.
In a press conference at Congress Bhawan in Imphal on Tuesday, PRO to Manipur Organisation Election Bhanu Pratap Sharma told the media that the process for the presidential election for AICC will begin from grass-root level to elect the most deserving candidate.
To take part in the said election, preparations to elect representatives for block to district level Congress Committee of Manipur was already completed, he said, adding, the results will be announced shortly.
The preparation for electing the remaining representatives for the state level congress committee has also started, he added.
He further said that as per Central Election Authority of Congress, nomination for presidential election for MPCC will be carried out from September 24 till 30.
The scrutiny will be carried out on October 1 and the list of eligible candidates will be announced on the same day, he mentioned. The election will be held on October 8; the counting will be done on October 19 and the results will be declared on the day itself, he added.
Bhanu said that the Congress Party under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is putting all-out efforts to save the country from the BJP government, which is considered as an anti-people government. The people of the country are suffering from price hikes and unemployment as a main reason, he said. Yet, the BJP government has not come up with any solution till date, he added.
There are high expectations that many young and dynamic people will be elected as the chief of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee from the state of Manipur, he added.
Supplementing the press briefing, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee is about to complete the process for the presidential election.
After the completion of the election, MPCC will take up various activities to fight against many issues both at the state and national level which are caused by the failure of the BJP government, he added.
