AI in medical to foster a deeper understanding in healthcare devices

A one-day workshop on “AI in Medical Electronics” was held at Classic Grande, Imphal.

A workshop to sensitise students of medical electronics to the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical electronics and to explore the current landscape and future opportunities for AI integration in healthcare devices was held on Wednesday.

National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Imphal, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Manipur Technical University (MTU), under sponsorship of MeitY, government of India, organised the one-day workshop on “AI in Medical Electronics”, at Classic Grande, Imphal.

During the workshop, N Debachandra Singh, director of NIELIT Imphal, provided insights into the significance of the workshop while Keisam Biju Singh, Finance Officer of MTU Imphal, shared his thoughts on the intersection of finance and technological advancements in the medical electronics domain.

Sunita Verma, Scientist G and Group Coordinator of the R&D Division at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, highlighted the role of AI in revolutionizing healthcare through medical electronics. She emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in leveraging technology for better patient care and healthcare management.

Professor Kh Manglem Singh highlighted the potential applications of AI in medical electronics and the importance of such workshops in nurturing innovation and expertise in the field. Artificially intelligent computer systems are used extensively in medical sciences, he said.

Common applications include diagnosing patients, end-to-end drug discovery, development etc., he added.

The workshop concluded with the note to enrich knowledge and insights into the promising domain of AI in medical electronics as it serves as catalysts for fostering collaborations and advancing research in healthcare technology.
