Activist conferred with honorary doctorate award

Euro Asian University has honoured Yengkhom Bhagyachandra with Honorary Doctorate Award 2024 on Saturday at Sarovar Portico, New Delhi.

This recognition was bestowed upon him during the university’s convocation, in honour to his three decades of dedicated social activism.

Yengkhom Bhagyachandra, hailing from Kakching Mayai Leikai, was born on March 1, 1960. He is the eldest son among five siblings born to the (L) Yengkhom Amuyaima Singh and Mayanglambam Ningol Yengkhom Ongbi Mani Devi.

Bhagyachandra, currently serves as chairman of ‘Thoubal Amasung Kakching District Apunba Lup’ (TAKDAL).

He also took significant responsibilities as a president of the Committee for Peace and Social Harmony, HO Kakching, Manipur. The committee established a relief camp and humanity service to 1,000 inmates who are affected by the ongoing turmoil in Manipur which erupted on may 3,2023.

He held the secretary position of Ekal Vidyalaya Yojana Samiti, Kakching Sanch, Thoubal district for 8 years and provided free education to the underprivileged students.

He was also a president of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (AAVP), Thoubal district for 13 years and initiated developmental works for education.

In 1986, Bhagyachandra married Moirangthem Ningol Memi Devi and blessed them with two sons and one daughter.
