A Defence Service Corps (DSC) personnel, who was allegedly abducted by miscreants from Langol, was found dead at Khuningthek Hill in Imphal East on Sunday.
Serto Thangthang Kom, 43, son of Serto Aphun Kom from Litan in Chandel district was allegedly abducted by three miscreants who came in a car from his residence at Neilailong around 10:15 am on Saturday.
He was posted at 57th Mountain Division, Leimakhong and residing at Neilailong, Langol Police Station Lamphel.
Retired Army jawan of 8th Assam Regiment, Serto Thangthang was re-employed as Defense Service Crops (DSC) at Leimakhong Army camp.
His body was discovered at Khuningthek hill, which is located 8 km southwest of Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East around 5:58 am on Sunday, police said.
Officials found Serto’s body blindfolded, with his hands tied and a bullet wound to his head. An empty 9 mm case was also discovered near the body. Police later shifted the body to JNIMS mortuary for post-mortem examination.
SpearCorps.Indian Army paid homage to the deceased on X with a post which mentioned that Serto had earlier served in the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army.
Meanwhile, the body of Serto Thangthang Kom was handed over to his family members on Monday afternoon.
A release of PRO IGAR South said, Thangthang Kom's last rites would be performed with full military honours on Tuesday at 11.30 am at Waikhong near Kakching.
