90th Zeliangrong Solidarity Day observed

The Zeliangrong Union, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AMN) observed the 90th Commemoration of Zeliangrong Solidarity Day (Chuk-Thoibe/Chuk-Thoibo/Chuk-Sumei) at Zeliangrong Union, head office Kakhulong, Paona Bazar, Imphal on Monday.

The event was held in remembrance of the sacrifices of the leaders of Zeliangrong Community to stop ‘Sangna Rih’ the inter village feuds, stated a release issued by ZU (AMN) general secretary Pantijai Newmai.

ZU executive member, Pou Adunna Malangmei; Secretary Administration ZU (AMN), K Poushinglung, vice president ZU(AMN), Pou Athai Kamei; chairman, ZU Imphal Zone, Pou Achung Phaomei; convener Chaguat Phuam Zeliangrong Union, Pou Sanachao Kamei; function president Pou Ashing Kamei; executive member ZU Imphal Zone, Pou Adam Pamei, leaders of Zeliangrong community, intellectuals, village authority and members of Football Association (ZFA) Kabui Mother Association (KAMA), ZU Bishnupur and Seder Area and ZU Imphal Zone attended the programme, it stated.

Chief Justice Union Pei, Pou Adi Riamei, spoke on the genesis of Zeliangrong tribe Organization (15th January 1925) and its functioning since the inception till date, it said. While, KAMA president, Luh Atongpi Kamei, President, urged people of Zeliangrong pui community to come together for common cause of the community for the future generation, it mentioned.

Resource persons also emphasised the need for unity and brotherhood among all kindred communities such as Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei/Kabui and Inpui, it stated. Attendees also observed two-minute silence paying homage to the departed leaders, it added.
