Ninety per cent of the Indian population are ignorant of the Constitution, MASLSA executive chairman justice Kh Nobin Singh said on Tuesday, and raised concern over it.
How legal issues would be solved if the people do not know why the Constitution was created in the first place, Singh said during an interactive programme held on the theme ‘Legal Services in 2020-21: Review and Way Forward’. The programme was held at the Conference Hall, ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex, Lamphelpat, Imphal.
He said that many issues are not getting solved due to lack of knowledge about the laws mentioned in the Constitution of India. He further spoke on various topics- ranging from ‘inputs and suggestions’ as a way forward for strengthening legal services in Manipur and overall judicial administration in Manipur. He also shared on how the media fraternity can help in building a robust judicial administration in Manipur, and spreading awareness of the laws, correct court proceedings and legal services activities, and the issues.
An interactive session followed afterwards, where senior editors and journalists also shared their views on how to improve the present legal system in Manipur. It was also emphasized during the session that the activities of the legal services will play a prominent role in ensuring justice to all.
The programme was attended by judicial officers, senior journalists from various print and electronic media houses in Manipur.
