80 acres of poppy fields destroyed in Churachandpur

A total of 80 acres of poppy fields which would have yielded approximately about 320 kg of opium were destroyed during a poppy destruction drive at Tuinuphai village under Sangaikot subdivision, Churachandpur on Tuesday.

The drive was conducted by a team of Churachandpur District Police led by SDPO Thanlon David Kilong along with 1st IRB and NAB officers at the said village which is located about 12 kms from Sangaikot Police Station.

In this regard, a case has been registered at Churachandpur Police Station with FIR No 109(12)2021 CCP PS under 18 ND&PS Act against unknown cultivators. Further investigation is on, said police sources.
