Art and Culture department Commissioner M Joy, said that one’s dignity can be recognised by the roles taken by the person during his lifetime. He was speaking as a chief guest of the 79th birth anniversary of Late Mayanglambam Gourachandra.
Speaking at the event held at the Library and Information Centre Kakching organised by the celebration committee of People’s Museum Kakching, he said that Gourachandra who was a pioneer in establishing private museums, also established the People’s Museum Kakching. He remembered the roles taken by Gourachandra in the field of art and culture.
Kakching MLA Y Surachandra, Kakching Municipal Council caretaker chairperson N Sanjitkumar, Art and Culture Department director K Dinamani, State Museum Imphal Curator M Minakshi, 2nd MR CO Victoria Yengkhom and former head of Clinical Psychology department RIMS Prof. M. Akshaykumar attended the event as presidium members.
Macha Chanu Kakching president Nongmaithem Pramodini and Mayanglambam Pravin kumar, research scholar read out papers on the topic “Maithong yamba Gourachandra-mahakki punshi amashung thabak” and “Khunnai asida Peoples’ Museum Kakching na piriba khudol sing” respectively during the event.
Attendees paid floral tributes to the portrait of late Mayanglambam Gourachandra during the event.
