6th Singju festival kicks off in Imphal East

The 6th Singju Festival, 2022 will continue till January 8, 2023.

The 6th Singju Festival, 2022 was inaugurated on Wednesday under the theme ‘Save our indigenous food and integrity’ to promote the Manipuri ‘Singju’, an important Manipuri cuisine, at Marjing Polo Complex, Imphal East district.

The festival is organised by Singju Yokhatpa Lup (SYOL), Manipur and supported by Marjing Khubam Kanba Lup, Heingang. It will be continuing till January 8, 2023.

During the festival, Solo dance competition; painting competition; essay writing competition; voluntary blood donation camp; free eye care camp; song competition (non-professional) and Miss Singju Queen Contest will be held.

The festival is aimed not only to promote the indigenous foods including ‘Singju’ which is a mixture of vegetables and others but also will try to promote the indigenous game of ‘mukna’ ‘yubi-lakpi’ and others.

The festival was inaugurated by Yumnam ongbi Joymala who is the better half of MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand.  

Chairman, Singju Festival Committee P Bimola Devi also attended the programme as one of the dignitaries. At the festival, different types of traditional ‘Singju’ were being sold at more than 50 stalls.
