57 laboratory tests no longer free: RIMS

NHM Manipur terminates support extended after March 31, 2024.

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (RIMS) has announced that it will resume charging the patients for 57 laboratory tests from Monday onwards.

An order signed by RIMS medical superintendent professor N Sanjib Singh on Saturday stated that RIMS Hospital has been providing these 57 laboratory tests free of cost to all patients as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between NHM Manipur and RIMS, Imphal on May 31, 2017.

The NHM Manipur provides a grant to conduct 57 of specific laboratory tests as per the agreement, it mentioned.

The NHM Manipur has now terminated the support extended after March 31, 2024 vide letter no. SHS- PPPOOTHR(15.9) /1/2023-STORE-SHS dated March 1, it stated.

A Standing Hospital Affairs Committee meeting of RIMS, Imphal held on Saturday resolved to resume charging the patients as per rate approved by 30th Standing Finance Committee of RIMS, Imphal with regard to these 57 tests (in the annexure) with immediate effect from Monday, it added.
