The Government of Manipur has deported 38 Myanmar nationals, including 11 children, to their home country Myanmar through the Integrated Check Post (ICP), Moreh on Tuesday.
Commissioner (Home) Government of Manipur Devesh Deval, in a release on Tuesday, said that they have been handed over safely to Myanmar authorities by the Immigration Officers of Government of India posted at ICP, Moreh.
The activity is carried out in continuation of the deportation process on May 2, in which 38 Myanmar Nationals, including eight children, were deported to Myanmar and handed over safely to Myanmar authorities through ICP, Moreh, it stated.
It mentioned that the Myanmar nationals were apprehended for entering the State/Country Illegally under Foreigners Act, 1946. During their period of stay at jail/detention centre and children homes, as applicable, the Myanmar nationals were taken proper care of and provided with all basic amenities and medical facilities, it stated.
It maintained that the deportation process was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and security forces. The State Government remains steadfast in its resolve to deport all immigrants who have entered the State illegally, the release added.
