30 acres of poppy fields in Manipur's Kangpokpi destroyed

A combined team of NAB, forest department and BSF destroyed is camping at B Gamnom village to destroy poppy fields and arrest illegal poppy cultivators.

As a part of the Manipur government’s ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, the state police along with state forest department and Border Security Forces destroyed illegal poppy plantations at NP Khullen, B Gamnom hill range, Kangpokpi district on Tuesday.

In a release, Manipur Police PRO said that the combined team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) along with forest department and BSF was led by superintendent of police Imphal East.

The combined team destroyed by cutting and uprooting poppy plants grown in an area of land measuring about 30 acres.

According to reports, the combined team is camping at B Gamnom village due to bad weather. Maximum efforts are underway to arrest the illegal poppy cultivators.

A case has been registered at Thoubal Dam police station for further investigation.
