The 2nd 9 A-Side football tournament cum Anal Naga inter-village volleyball tournament, 2024 began on Tuesday at the Chakpikarong Public Playground, Chakpikarong in Chandel district.
Organised by Chakpikarong Youth Club (KYC), 31 teams are participating in the football event while 23 teams are participating in the volleyball tournament.
In the first football match, Ruwngchang YC thrashed Ckg Police by 15 goals to one with Nl. Kanlun scoring 8 goals. The lone goal for Ckg Police was scored by Mojoy.
Chenghring of Ruwngchang YC and Loverson of Ckg Police were cautioned with Yellow cards for foul play.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by Bd. Belief Anal, Honorary Captain, 14th AR as chief guest, Ws Akash Anal, Subedar, 1st Naga Regiment as functional president, Sp Belorhring Anal, retired Indian Army and Lh Ajit Anal, Retired Indian Army as guests of honour.
During the opening ceremony, the guests called on the teams to participate with a spirit of sportsmanship, oneness, unity and with discipline. They also encouraged the participants to play fairly and take up sports for a healthier and better tomorrow.
The volleyball matches will begin on Wednesday (May 8) with Phiran Machet YC taking on Modi YC (BJBY) in the first match while CYC C will take on Tokpaching YC and Julbangching YC taking on KKNYC.
