1st Legislative Assembly of NSUC held

All the nine federating units of the NSUC headed by their respective presidents attended the assembly.

The 1st Legislative Assembly of the Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC) was held at Leinganching village on Saturday, hosted by Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (LKK).

All the nine federating units of the NSUC headed by their respective presidents attended the assembly.

Founding president of NSUC, Ng Gilbert Monsang also attended the assembly. The assembly was also attended by the president and executives of Chandel Naga People’s Organisation, ANSAM vice President, general secretary and deputy speaker attended the assembly. Former presidents of the NSUC, senior leaders, intellectuals and well-wishers also attended the assembly.

Ruwnglar Elly Anal, president, Naga Students Union Chandel unveiled a monument and hoisted the flag too.

“Our flag not only represents our union but also the value we hold, a testament to our rich culture, the dedication of our leaders, the spirit of the people, past and present. It is a symbol of our unity, our strength and our shared aspirations,” Elly said while hoisting the flag.

The assembly was chaired by SR Andria and SK Bungkham Lamkang as Pro-tem speaker and sessional secretary respectively while Db Johny Lamkang, president of LKK gave the welcome address.

NSUC president Ruwnglar Elly Anal led a prayer in remembrance and honour of the departed souls of former presidents and leaders. Appreciating all members of the house for sparing their valuable time for attending the assembly, he requested the members to feel free in sharing constructive thoughts for the greater integration of the union.

He also called for standing and fighting together to bring quality education into our district and for the nation as a whole. Quality education is the need of the hour in order to safeguard our young generation, he said and encouraged the youths to educate and empower themselves.

The NSUC president further urged the August house for all round development like education, socially, economically and politically.

The August house nominated SK Joseph Lamkang, the outgoing president, as tribunal general, Sr Joyningam Anal and Sh kalenchung as tribunal members. The August house inducted Sh Felix Monsang as assembly speaker, Rd Shelhring Anal as deputy speaker and Sk John lamkang as information and publicity secretary.

The August house deliberated and discussed various issues concerning the district especially in the field of education and the likes.

Under School Education, the August house decided to concentrate on Primary school under ADC & Education-s, monitor central sponsored school Viz JNV, KVS, EMRS and KGBV, upgradation of schools, setting up of schools in the recognized village without school and standard guidelines for private institutions.

Under Health (Medical Departments), the NSUC decided to look into District Hospital Chandel and Public Health Centre (PHC) Komlathabi.

The August house also discussed safeguarding and preservation of historical and cultural heritages, forest, sand mining and influx of immigrants in Chandel District.

The NSUC also took a tough stand on any irregularities of government offices and employees in the district, warning that strict action would be taken against those irregular or not punctual.
