1st IRB observe 29th Raising Day

The event was marked by unfurling of the Unit's Flag followed by a Shok parade where the names of all the 48 Martyrs were read out.

The 1st India Reserve Battalion located at HQ Veng, Churachandpur, on Monday celebrated its 29th Raising Day at its Samadhi Ground. The event was marked by unfurling of the Unit's Flag followed by a Shok parade where the names of all the 48 Martyrs were read out.

They also paid respects by laying wreaths and flowers at the Samadhi.             

CO Lunkhomang Khongsai gave away the CO Commendation Certificate to 158 officers and personnel in recognition of their outstanding performance of duty and good service rendered to the Unit in the past year. To mark the occasion the second volume of the Unit's Newsletter was also unveiled in which Dy CO Lowrence K Munluo was the editor.      

Trophy was also awarded to the winners of the One Day Badminton Tournament.

As part of the observation, personnel of 1st IRB also planted trees saplings.

It may be mentioned that 1st IRB was set up on 1st of August, 1994 as the 11th Manipur Rifles and stationed at Kangla, Imphal. The HQs was shifted to its present location i.e. Churachandpur on 16th June, 2006.
