177 cases resolved with settlement of Rs 1.82 crore

During the Lok Adalat in Manipur, around 2,000 numbers of pending & pre-litigation cases were listed for the entire state.

The Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with the High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities organised the second National Lok Adalat on Saturday at all the district courts and High Court of Manipur.

During the Lok Adalat, around 2,000 numbers of pending & pre-litigation cases were listed for the entire state. The cases ranged from Civil cases & Criminal Compoundable cases pending before courts, Bank recovery, MACT, Matrimonial disputes, Negotiable Instrument Act, Water Bill cases, etc.

Out of 188 cases which were taken up on Saturday, 177 cases were successfully resolved during the Lok Adalat with total settlement amount of Rs 1,82,83,801 only.

While interacting with the media persons, Justice A Bimol Singh said that National Lok Adalat is held throughout the country as per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). For the state of Manipur, it is held in all the District Court Complexes.

He also highlighted that Lok Adalat is a mechanism for settlement of disputes without wasting much time & money through mutual agreement between the parties. The decree passed in the Lok Adalat are akin to decree passed by any civil court and they are final and no appeal lies before any other courts. It is further informed that the next National Lok Adalat will be held on September 14, 2024 and  December 14, 2024.
He appealed to all those parties who desired to settle their cases to approach Manipur State Legal Services Authority or District Legal Services Authorities for listing their cases.

The Lok Adalat was visited and inspected by Justice A Bimol Singh, Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu at Lamphel Court Complex.

Members of the benches of National Lok Adalat namely, N Lanleima, presiding officer, MACT; Monalisa Maibam, Special Judge, ND&PS (FTC), Manipur and Laishram Rina Devi, Civil Judge (Sr. Division), Imphal East presided as chairperson of three benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex.

Ch Momon Singh, advocate; H Ranabati Devi, advocate; Angothoiba Meitei, advocate; Th Mahira, advocate; P Premchand, advocate and Rameshwor Luwang, advocate performed as Members of the benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex.

National Lok Adalat held in Churachandpur

As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the District Legal Services Authority Churachandpur on Saturday organized the second National Lok Adalat for the year 2024 at the District & Sessions Court Churachandpur from 10.30 am onwards.    

There was one bench presided by Tongminthang Haokip, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Pherzawl, Advocate Chinglun and Jenice Vungbiakching, Counsellor as bench members.

A total of 12 cases were taken up and the same were settled. It included 3 (three) Matrimonial Dispute cases pending before the Courts in Churachandpur and six loan defaulters. One civil case and others were also taken up and settled amicably.

A total amount of Rs 2,01,019.57 was settled in the said Lok Adalat.  

DLSA Churachandpur expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all the advocates, staff of the courts, bank officials, parties and all others who made this Lok Adalat a success.    

The National Lok Adalat was organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Churachandpur in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm.
