10 Myanmar nationals arrested in Churachandpur

Ten Myanmar nationals were found staying illegally in Churachandpur district during a search operation.

At least 10 Myanmar nationals were found staying illegally in Churachandpur district HQ, Manipur and have been arrested by the police, sources said.

Police said, the 10 Myanmarese nationals were rounded up during a search operation conducted following a tipoff received at 3 pm February 5, 2023, at Vaal Veng, New Lamka, Churachandpur. 

During the search operation by two teams of CCP-PS led by OC/CCP-PS and OC-WPS CCP, suspected illegal Myanmarese were reportedly seen fleeing on seeing the police personnel. After a hot chase among the fields, all the 10 suspected illegal Myanmarese nationals were rounded up, police said. 

The 10 illegal immigrants have been identified as one Zinmai (50) wife of Aung Khai, Kyu Kyu (20) daughter of Kyi Soe of  Thi Thi (25), daughter of Oophone, Soe Soe (20), daughter of Oophone, Khin Khin (25), wife of Naing Win Tun, Khin Moh Moh Zaw (20), daughter of U Zaw Htet, Zawn Htet, son of Than Aung, Aung Khaing (47), son of Nyo Win, and Naing Win Tun (23), son of U Than Tun Naing, all from Mongwa, Myanmar, and one Lalthakima (52), son of Vanlalmuana of Tahan, Myanmar, police said.

On preliminary verification, they admitted that they came to Churachandpur on different dates and years from Myanmar and taking shelter secretly at Vaal Veng, Churachandpur HQ. They were arrested at  4:35 pm for entering India illegally. 

A case under FIR NO.16(2)2023 CCP-PS u/s 14 Foreigners Act has been filed for further investigation.
