A large number of womenfolk on Friday stopped buses carrying security personnel at Tengnoupal from entering Moreh. The security personnel were deployed to tackle the clash that broke out in Moreh on Wednesday.

According to sources, around 10 buses carrying a combined team of IRB and MR personnel led by 5th IRB Commanding Officer H Balaram left Imphal for Moreh on Friday afternoon in the wake of the violence that erupted in Moreh town after AR personnel stopped Kuki women from looting the abandoned shops owned by the Meitei community.

It is suspected that the women protesters may have received news of security buses arriving in Moreh and formed a barrier in Tengnoupal using boulders to prevent entry of the buses.

Following this, the buses carrying security personnel were forced to harbour at Tengnoupal Assam Rifles Camp.
