India and Bangladesh will celebrate Maitri Diwas on December 6, in honour of their longstanding friendship.

India and Bangladesh are set to celebrate 50 years of “Maitri Diwas” on December 6, in honour of their longstanding friendship. In this regard, India-Bangladesh have started preparations

To make this day special, both India and Bangladesh are organizing different types of programmes together, like Logo and Backdrop designing competition and book review based on the Bangladesh Liberation War.

According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the names of the winners of the Logo and Backdrop designing competition will be announced on December 6.

Also, on this day, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will release a video message about India-Bangladesh relations and the liberation struggle.

At the same time, India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla will give his views regarding the friendship and development projects of the two countries in the programme organized at the Indian Council for World Affairs (ICWA).

President Ram Nath Kovind will also travel to Dhaka on December 16 to attend the golden jubilee celebration of Bangladesh’s 1971 independence following a nine-month long Liberation War.

According to the ministry, the book ‘1971: Rise of a Nation Bangladesh’ will be released at the programme. Along with this, a short film will also be shown in the ceremony which will be shared on all social media platforms.

Apart from this, Doordarshan and All India Radio will broadcast all the programmes organised on this day abroad.
