Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who has tested positive for COVID-19, was on Friday put on oxygen support after his lungs infection worsened, reports said.
The health minister has also been diagnosed with pneumonia, the reports said.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the minister's health condition was improving and was given oxygen support only when required.
The 55-year-old minister tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, a day after he was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital after he developed COVID-19 like symptoms, such as high fever and difficulty in breathing. His test result came positive for the novel coronavirus after the second test on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been given the additional charge of the Health Ministry after Jain tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Meanwhile, as per the Union Health Ministry, Delhi reported 2,877 COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total cases in the national capital to 49,979, including 21,341 recovered cases and 1,969 deaths.
Delhi is the third worst-hit state in India after Maharashtra with 1,20,504 cases and Tamil Nadu with 52,334 cases.
