With the announcement of COHSEM exam 2024 results on Monday, parents and guardians of numerous students expressed their desires for their wards to embark on top career paths.

But for Sapam Dorendeo, father of 2nd position holder (Arts) S Langlel Chanu, he wishes her daughter would become a good human being with good moral and ethical values.

He wants his daughter to stay rooted to her culture, community and develop a strong sense of patriotism and love for her people.

He noted that these values were far more important than any academic achievements and objectives.

Speaking to Imphal Free Press, Dorendro, who hails Khongjom Sapam Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district, stated that he was away, running an errand, when the call about the results came.

“My daughter called me and told me about the results. I felt emotional and proud at the same time,” he said.

She is one of two students who secured 2nd position in COHSEM exam 2024 in the Arts stream. She is a student of TG Higher Secondary school, Imphal and scored a total of 474, securing letter marks in six subjects.

Dorendro highlighted that he and his wife will fully support whatever academic endeavour their daughter wants to pursue and maintained that he would do everything to fulfill his daughter’s wish and work to the bone if need be.

Meanwhile, Langlel maintained that she wants to pursue a career in civil services and added that she had a knack for Sociology as her primary subject in graduate courses.

“I want to serve the people by being in the service. I want to do my part in creating a more sustainable and equal society,” she said.

She stated that the result was the reflection of the hard work she had put in over the years.

“I enjoy studying, but according to my time. I cannot sit down and study forcefully, it has to be natural,” she said.

She stated that the conflict had her on edge wondering if it would impact her academic career.

But I managed and tried to keep my mentality in the right space and used the conflict as inspiration to do my best, she said.

She urged all students and juniors to keep mental well-being in-check and try to do their best regardless of other people’s expectations.
