A mandible tumour was successfully operated and removed from a patient at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal by a team of doctors led by Dr Ak Ibohal Singh, department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
The operation to remove the mandible tumour known as Ameloblastoma lasted about nine-and-half hours, stated a release. The mandible tumour was excised and reconstruction done using free fibula flap (bone taken from the leg and cut into the shapes of the mandible), it mentioned.
The teams of doctors are Dr L Oken Singh, Dr Nehar Sinam, Dr Manish Rajpuroliii, Dr Seiminthang Haokip, Dr Yumnam Ramesh Singh and Dr Shishi Elanghani, it mentioned. Anaesthesia was administered during the operation by professor L Deban, Dr L Eshori and team, it added.
