Omicron hits 24 states-UT in India, cases surge to 2,135

India's on Wednesday witnessed whopping 58,097 Covid-19 new cases and the daily positivity rate rose to 4.18 per cent.

Omicron infection spreads to 24 states and Union Territories in India and the cases surged to total 2,135 across the country, while the daily total Covid-19 cases surged to 58,097. Consequently the daily positivity rate rose to 4.18 per cent and the weekly positivity rate moved to 2.60 per centofficial sources said on Wednesday.

Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, Rajasthan and Gujarat are states with the highest number of Omicron cases in the country with 653, 464, 185, 174, 154 cases respectively. Of the total Omicron cases in india, 828 people have recovered, according to the Union Health Ministry.

As per the latest updates, India's Covid Recovery Rate stood 98.01 per cent, as 15,389 recoveries in all were reported in the last 24 hours. The Total Recoveries reached 3,43,21,803.

Following it, the country’s Covid-19 active caseload stood at 2,14,004. The active cases account for less than one per cent of the total cases, currently at 0.61 per cent.

India, today, has 3,50,18,358 confirmed Covid cases, while the death toll mounted to 4,82,551 as 534 more patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, so far, over 68.38 crore total tests have been conducted and 147.72 cr vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
