As a part of the worldwide observation, World TB Day 2023 was held on Friday at the District TB Centre, Chandel under the theme, ‘Yes We Can End TB’.
The World TB Day programme in Chandel was attended by Chandel chief medical officer (CMO) Serthani Serbum as the chief guest, Chandel district TB officer Tongan Roel as the president and Chandel district malaria officer Siarloa Similan Aimol as the guest of honour.
CMO Serthani Serbum appealed to the people to help in eradicating TB by 2025 and stressed on the need for proper and up-to-date equipment and medicines.

She also highlighted the steps to take up against TB including early detection and proper administration of medications etc, urging the people to avail the free facilities provided by the government.
Alice Ngoruh, district programme officer, and Sunihrin Hranglim, district programme coordinator informed that the camp was held in observation of World TB Day and to help spread awareness on the disease and its prevention.

The World TB Day programme in Chandel was organised by the District Health Society National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), Chandel district in collaboration with Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute.
During the event, various events including talks on TB, the screening of a short video on TB by the Piramal Foundation along with a quiz programme for the students, were organised.
