Yaoshang Meithaba in Pics: Traditions and spiritualism come alive amid vibrant celebrations

Shades of joyous and colourful celebration paint the evening sky as the five-day-long Yaoshang festival is celebrated in Manipur with much fun and gaiety.

As Yaoshang festival, one of the biggest festivals of the Meetei community in Manipur, dawned, the first day witnessed traditional ceremonial bonfire - Yaoshang Meithaba.

Several people, particularly of the Meetei community, wearing traditional attires, gathered around to take part in the bonfire rituals that marked the start of the five-day-long festival.

Yaoshang festival of Manipur is celebrated every spring time, starting from full moon day of the lunar month of Lamta. This year, the festival falls on March 7 to 11.

The festival is marked by fun and gaiety imbued with spiritualism, leaving behind the past and moving forward to a new beginning.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N Biren and other ministers of the state extended greetings to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion. They invited the people of the state to celebrate Yaoshang in its true spirit with the participation of all communities.
