Announcing the Manipur Fashion Extravaganza, 2022, which will showcase Miss World Manushi Chhillar and Femina Miss India Manasa Varanasi as the showstoppers, renowned fashion entrepreneur Robert Naorem informed that people with disabilities (PwD) will be given the opportunity to walk on the ramp alongside models.
The fashion show will not just be a ramp show as it is organised with a cause to encourage and support PwD besides giving platform to highlight the Manipur culture and tradition in the form of fashion and other activities such as awareness on breast cancer, said the fashion designer while speaking to the media at Naorem's Studio (Robert Naorem Studio) in Imphal West.
Informing that Weaver of the Year Award will be given to the best weaver of Robert Naorem Studio to encourage the contribution, work and talent of the weavers, Naorem said that the fashion show will also serve as a platform for the new talents to showcase their works, mentioning Arbin Tonjam who is also a budding designer.
Naorem maintained that the fashion show will also include a jewellery show for the first time so that the artisans and weavers of the state can showcase their works.
With her studio successfully completing five years, she informed that Robert Naorem Charitable Trust will also be formally launched and announced on that very own day. The trust will be lending its support to the persons in need especially to the underprivileged group, Naorem added.
As many as 50 models, including 10 from outside states, will be participating in the fashion show which is scheduled on October 16 at Hotel Imphal, said Naorem adding, "the show will be like no other in the past."
Seeking the public support in organising the fashion show successfully, Naorem also informed that both the Miss World and Femina Miss India will be wearing the Meitei traditional dresses.
