Manipur's Wangkhei Janata Dal-United candidate Th Arunkumar on Thursday addressed his last public rally in the run up to the ensuing state Assembly election at Mantripukhri Puja Mandir Lampak, Imphal East, and urged the people of his constituency against being lured by candidates with history of drug cases.
“Don’t get lured by the humble acting of those MLAs having history of drug cases and who remember the public only during the time of election,” he appealed, saying that the past MLAs were not ideal but were idle.
As a result the constituency has been lagging behind when compared to other constituencies in terms of drainage systems, roadways, education and employment generation and in implementation of various welfare activities of the government, he contended.
Stressing that some politicians have been engaging in multi-crore drug business, he said those politicians are responsible for the majority of the drug menace occurring in the state. "Stay alert from those politicians," he appealed. He also appealed to the people to cast their votes wisely as it is going to stand the faith of the constituency for the upcoming five years.
Arunkumar then mentioned that his closest rival in the election will be NPP candidate Y Erabot as the BJP candidate of Wangkhei is accused of a drug haul case.
The political rally was also attended by Lok Sabha MP Sunil Kumar Pintu, Lok Sabha MP and JD-U Northeast in-charge Ramprit Mandal, president of Yuva JD(U), Manipur Apollo Singh, among others.
