Manipur Technical University is a people's university, said vice-chancellor Bhabeswar Tongbram urging the public to support the university's initiative for welfare of students and the state.
Addressing the press at MTU vice-chancellor office chamber at Takyel on Thursday, VC of MTU, Bhabeswar Tongbram said that MTU has taken up various initiatives on technology to improve the university. Some of them are bamboo innovation and incubation centre with South Asia Bamboo Foundation (SABF); Institute Innovation Council (IIC) under NITI Aayog; Atal Innovation Centre – initiative work is in progress; Start-up Incubation Centre with AIC-Sikkim Manipal University with the support of Planning Department, government of Manipur; IPR Centre with Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi; SRIC sponsored Research & Industrial Consultancy with Civil Engineering, Manipur Technical University.
More than technology initiative, various MoUs have been signed with Central Agricultural University for faculty capacity building, student’s training and postgraduate research, with South Asia Bamboo Foundation for establishment of Bamboo Innovation and Incubation Centre, to develop the student and college management tool to automate the process of student and academic profile the MoU has been signed with Manipur College, MoU signed with NIELIT, PGIMER, JNIMS, SHRI for a joint R&D project on “Design and Development of EEG Based Real-Time Depth of Anesthesia (DoA) Monitoring System” sponsored by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and for promoting and building a strong eco-system the MoU has been signed with AIC-SMU Technology Business Incubation Foundation, VC of MTU said.
For student’s welfare Smart India Hackathon 2022 – three teams participated in grand finale IIT Roorkee – 3rd prize and MIT Pune- 1st prize; students participated on Toycathon 2022 and others various activities are being taken up, he informed.
MTU has Start-up Cell; Internship Cell; MOOC; Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) Cell; Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell, he added.
Speaking to the media Bhabeswar Tongbram said he was awarded the Vice-Chancellor of the Year 2022 in the 2nd Edition of Higher Education Innovation and Technology Summit 2022 hosted by Universal Mentors Association with Brain wonders on August 27, 2022 held at the Hotel Pride Plaza, Aerocity, New Delhi.
VC informed that there were 500 applicants and 50 profiles were shortlisted. The event was participated by over 10 key government dignitaries, Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Registrars and Directors from universities, engineering colleges, business schools, IITs, IIMs and NITs. Professor Ajay Rana, director general, Amity University; Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice- Chancellor, Central University of Haryana, Professor P Sybramanya Yadapadithaya, vice chancellor, Mangalore University, Pramod K. Raghav, Vice-Chancellor(incharge), Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University, Major Nupur Gupta, Dean Academics, IMS, Noida, Professor Raju Ch. Voleti, director, Global Academic Alliances, Sharda University were some of the dignitaries present at the summit.
Bhabeswar Tongbram was also recognised with the Speaker Award of the summit, Higher Education Innovation and Technology Summit 2022 panel discussion III on the theme “How Technology is Reshaping the Careers of the Students”.
The Shiksha Ratna Award 2022 under the aegis of the Higher Education Conclave of the 2nd Edition of Higher Education Innovation and Technology Summit 2022 by REVERIE Language Technologies, Bangalore was also awarded to the vice-chancellor, Manipur Technical University on August 27 held at the Hotel Pride Plaza, Aerocity, New Delhi.
