Students get self-defence training

The training programme was held under the initiative of Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) as part of the month-long memorial observation of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.

Lamyanba Irabot Ningshing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) organised a (self-defence) training programme for students of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School at the school’s campus in Khangabok, Thoubal district on Saturday.

The programme was held under the initiative of Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) as part of the month-long memorial observation of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.

The event began with officials and students paying floral tributes to the portrait of Lamyanba Irabot. PPCM convenor Ph Nando Luwang; director of Kanglei Shaktam Langba Kanglup, Chingtham Ranjeet Khuman; chairman of KM Blooming Higher Secondary school, Kh Menjor Mangang; LINTOC convenor Kh Gopen Luwang; co-convenors K Thoiba Meitei, L Shyam Khuman and Y Thoiba were among those present at the event.

Speaking on the sidelines, Ph Nando Luwang said that PPCM is a conglomerate of 36 various organisations and associations, including meira paibis. He asserted that the committee has been observing the memorial of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot for a month every year. He added that the self-defence training aimed to promote physical fitness and inculcate discipline among the students.

LINTOC convenor Kh Gopen Luwang and chairman of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Kh Menjor Mangang also stressed on the ideals and beliefs of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot as well as the importance of self-defence to the students.
