The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), the apex student body of the community on Wednesday issued an ‘eligibility criteria’ to be followed in connection with the entrance examination that was recently conducted for admission to Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Ramva, Ukhrul for class VI students and also submitted the findings report of an enquiry.
In a statement issued by its education secretary Lummi Awungshi, TKS stated that a candidate applying under the rural quota should be from the district where the JNV is located. The candidate should have studied class III, IV and V completing full academic session in a government/government aided or recognised school from the same district where admission is sought, TKS stated.
TKS along with a team from Zonal Education Office (ZEO) had visited all the schools for verification, it stated. As per the findings, of the total 14 OBC students selected in Ukhrul district, no students were found to be genuine, it stated. Among the 23 students selected from Kamjong district, only 5 students were found to be genuine while the remaining 18 students were rejected as they failed to meet the required eligibility criteria, it added.
As per their report, 14 OBC students were selected from Ukhrul all of them were not found to be genuine. “Out of the 14 students, 11 were admitted for the academic session 2021-22, but their permanent address is not Ukhrul while the remaining three students’ data/ information were not found in the school's records,” TKS stated.
It further stated that in the case of students selected from Kamjong, only five students were found eligible for admission to class VI at JNV Ramva. “Of the remaining 18 students, 7 of them were rejected on the ground that they are from ‘Unrecognised Private Schools’ while 11 students were rejected as their names were not included in the school enrolment list (UDISE) submitted by the headmaster,” it mentioned.
The report along with its remarks was also submitted to the principal JNV Ramva on July 14 by MES, ZEO Ukhrul RK Makaohei Singh, and ZEO/ DEO, Kamjong N Nabakumar Singh on July 19 for necessary action as per rules and regulations of JNVST 2022.
It may be mentioned that RK Makaohei Singh, in a notification issued on July 12 directed Sunita Jajo, MES to conduct spot inquiry to check the genuineness of the OBC candidates selected in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test, 2022 as per the eligibility guidelines of CBSE/JVS at three schools, namely Asui Memorial School, Yaingangpokpi; Lambui High School and St Paul school Lambui. The spot inquiry was also conducted, during which many students were not found to be genuine.
