Seminar on “Life and Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda” was held on Sunday at Puthiba Community Hall, Khurai, Imphal East organised by Auxiliary Service for Human Affairs (ASHA), Manipur.
The programme was conducted under the sponsorship of Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme (CFPGS) funded by the Union Culture Ministry .
Presenting his keynote address, secretary of ASHA, Manipur, BK Nandeibam said that India is known for having so many godmen in the world and that Swami Vivekanand is one of the most important gurus in India and against whom not a single negative criticism or remark has been said till date.
The ideas, thinking and philosophies of Swami Vivekananda are so forceful that all his doctrines and teachings are accepted worldwide. As such Swami Vivekananda played a crucial role in identifying India in the global context despite the fact that he died at the early age of 39, he said.
He said that the state has been facing drug menace and problem of moral degradation amongst the youth which are a threat to the future of the state, it is high time to revisit the teaching of Swami Vivekananda. To impart his philosophies would help in guiding the youths in the right direction to some extent, he said.
As a part of the programme, four resource persons presented a paper in connection with the theme of the seminar.
Dignitaries who attended the function were principal of SS Gourgobind Girls’ College, Khurai, Imphal East, Konsam Jaboshakhi Devi; president of ASHA, T Memcha Devi and president of Social Reformers’ Club, Khurai Puthiba Leikai, Y Bhim Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
