‘Pull out RAF personnel stationed at government schools'

Stationing the RAF personnel at various state government schools has hindered the academic process of the schools directly affecting the students and teachers as well, general secretary of TG Higher Secondary school students’ union said.

The Students’ Union of TG Higher Secondary School, Johnstone and Churachand Higher Secondary Schools on Thursday appealed to authorities concerned to pull out the RAF personnel stationed at all three state government schools under COHSEM and to initiate regular school classes swiftly.

Speaking to the media at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai Community Hall, Imphal, general secretary of TG Higher Secondary school students’ union Manshi Sagolshem stated that stationing the RAF personnel at various state government schools has hindered the academic process of the schools directly affecting the students and teachers as well.

“The used plastic bottles, items and food leftovers of the personnel have clogged the drainage system inside the school which has raised serious health concerns for the students on top of that the movement of heavy vehicles inside the schools has damaged the schools’ assembly floor and footpaths,” she said.

She further expressed disappointment over the condition of washrooms and toilets in the respective schools and maintained that the present deplorable condition of such facilities raised serious health and sanitation concerns.

“The new session for class 12 cannot start if the RAF is stationed normally as such we appeal to the state government to initiate measures so that normal classes can start, she added.

She further stated a memorandum would also be submitted to the chief minister, education minister and the director of Education(S) about the appeal.
