Physical classes for children below 12 to resume in Manipur

A notification stated that students and teachers are to wear face masks to school, school authorities to advise parents not to send their wards having Covid-19 symptoms.

The Manipur Education department (S) on Friday issued an order for the resumption of physical classes for children below 12 years i.e. up to class VII with effect from August 8.

An order issued by H Gyan Prakash, commissioner Education (S), stated that the decision was taken after having consulted with the state health department.

It notified that students and teachers are to wear face masks, school authorities to advise parents not to send their wards having Covid-19 symptoms, and all heads of school to take necessary steps to vaccinate their teachers fully, including precaution dose.

On July 22, the state government extended the date for closure of physical classes for children below 12 years of age (up to Class VII) and announced the closure of schools for these students till August 7 in public interests.

The earlier extension was announced in view of the prevailing scenario and as a precautionary measure for the health and safety of the children below 12 years of age, the government stated.

The state government had on July 12 ordered all schools (government/government aided/ private/ schools affiliated to CBSE, etc.) to remain closed for all classes till July 24.
