Meetei Mayek, Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (Meelal) Kangleipak on Monday announced that the much delayed Meetei Mayek competition will be held at the allotted centres on September 24.
The competition, which is held as an annual event, commemorates the day the association signed an agreement with the state government to implement Meitei Mayek in the school curriculum on May 18, 2005, a release stated.
It said that all arrangements have been made to conduct the competition across 30 centres, including Jiri centre, adding that around 10,000 students are expected to participate in the competition.
It further mentioned that students between classes 1 to 10 are eligible to take part in the competition to be conducted in five sub-categories.
It also notified all those who have not yet submitted their forms to submit it to Meelal head office by September 15. It added that Meelal has been making all-out efforts to promote Meetei Mayek and ensure everyone in the state learns the script.
