Manipur University, Registrar in-charge, David K Zote on Monday said the Deans’ Committee of Manipur University has resolved to conduct fresh entrance examination for BEd within 15 days following leakage of question papers for the exam held recently.
The committee also resolved that the members of the committee considered the memorandum submitted by Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) and the reports in the local papers regarding the allegation of leakage of question paper for the entrance test for admission to BEd course in Manipur University, Zote said in a statement.
The Registrar in-charge also mentioned that after in-depth discussion, the committee identified some prima facie evidence of the question leakage. The committee also unanimously resolved to cancel the B.Ed. entrance examination which was held on Sunday.The Committee also resolved that a ‘One-Man Fact-finding committee’ be constituted to enquire into the matter which shall submits its findings within 3 weeks.
Meanwhile, Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) submitted a memorandum regarding the alleged question paper leakage of the said entrance examination to vice-chancellor, Manipur University on Monday.
In the memorandum signed by the executive members of the union, they demanded enquiry with a standing committee into the matter; to conduct a new entrance test if that issue is genuine and authentic and to take necessary steps against those who are responsible regarding the matter.
In a press conference held at the office of MUSU, its president Maibam Maikel Singh cautioned that if the demands are not fulfilled democratic agitation will be conducted.
