A month-long Clean India Campaign Drive 2022 organised by the NSS Cell Manipur University which began on October 1 concluded on Saturday. The closing function was held at Traffic Island, Manipur University near Gambhir Singh monument on Saturday.
The NSS Cell, MU, stated in a release that the closing function held at the Traffic Island Manipur University, near Ghanbir Singh Monument was attended by dean student welfare M Premjit as the chief guest, and programme officers of NSS Unit I S Sunil Singh, programme officers of NSS Unit II Moirangthem Macha Chaoreikanba and programme officers of NSS Unit III H Suraj Singh as the guests of honour along with NSS Cell coordinator M Nodiyachand Singh as the president.
It mentioned that the campaign was inaugurated with Plogging Run and Cleanliness Drive from Traffic Island, Manipur University at 7 am of October 2. The programme was led by vice chancellor of MU N Lokendra Singh as the chief guest, it continued. In the event, the chief guest recalled the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi’s fondness of cleanliness, stating that the Clean India Campaign was observed in his remembrance, it maintained.
In the closing function, NSS Cell coordinator M Nodiyachand Singh stated that the campaign was attended by 200 volunteers from NSS Unit-I, II and III along with the research scholars students from boys’ and girls’ hostels of the university. He also mentioned that during the campaign the volunteers cleaned the physical wastes around the university campus along with the pending cases of the administration offices in order to ensure smooth functioning, it added.
