Students of Manipur Technical University (MTU) on Tuesday stormed the administrative block of the university demanding authorities to implement equal semester examination rules for all students in the university.
The students warned that no students from any semester would appear for the university exams if the authorities disregarded the demand.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the protest, a student stated that MTU was a diverse educational institute with students from all backgrounds.
“However, the way in which academic classes are conducted, among other aspects, have changed tremendously because of the conflict,” he said.
He pointed out that it was all the people in Manipur taking the brunt of the conflict and not one particular community.
“Creating separate examination procedures for different students and imposing them is highly unethical and uncalled for,” he said.
He stated that all rules must be equal for all students and cautioned that the students of all semesters in the university would not appear for university examination till the issue was resolved.
“Creating offline and online modes of examination for different students unravels biases in the system,” he said.
As such, he further demanded authorities concerned to rectify the issue and implement an equal system for all students.
