Manipur Students' Federation says no to May-June school fees

The MSF strongly opposed schools collecting fees for the summer vacation period, while the entire state is facing financial constraints due to the ongoing crisis.

The Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) on Thursday expressed concern regarding reports of certain schools collecting tuition fees for the months of May and June, which were officially designated as the summer vacation period by the state government.

During a press conference held at the MSF office in Imphal on Thursday, its general secretary Rojit Teckcham denounced the practice of schools collecting fees, including for the summer vacation period, while the entire state is facing financial constraints due to the ongoing crisis. He emphasized that such actions are unacceptable.

Addressing the Education (s) department, the general secretary urged them to investigate the matter and take necessary action to ensure that school fees for May and June are relaxed, considering the economic difficulties faced by families during the crisis.

He also urged individuals who face pressure from schools under the Education department to pay fees for the two months to reach out to the MSF helpline numbers - 9863853826 or 9366303924.

The federation vowed to take strict action against schools found collecting fees during the designated summer vacation period, he added.

The MSF also announced its decision to closely monitor all schools under the Education department in the state to ensure compliance with the directive to relax school fees for the summer vacation months.
