The Manipur government has declared that the conduct of online examination and assessment of students for pre-nursery to class V by certain private schools is neither correct nor acceptable as its results will be counterproductive.
An order issued by the government of Manipur has stated that such examination must be discouraged as it will create substantial apprehension, anxiety and tension to the tender children. It will also have the same effect on the parents and guardians as well, it stated.
The continuation of learning activities through online/remote medium during a pandemic period is appreciated by the government, it stated. However, all kinds of assessments and examinations for pre-nursery to class V during the lockdown period have been prohibited, it stated. Non-compliance of the order will be viewed very seriously by the state government, the order mentioned.
The schools have been closed by the order of government under the order dated March 12 due to the current COVID-19 lock down, it said. It has affected not only the academic calendar of all the students but also compounded their stress and trauma, it stated. It has affected more on the delicate and very young students reading in class pre-nursery to class V, it added.
