Kakching High School 1984 Matric Batch as part of their ‘Tha ama, Thabak ama’ (one month, one work) programme, assured to provide financially support to the academic journey of a girl studying in Kakching Higher Secondary School on Sunday.
In a blessing ceremony for the selected student Nongmaithem Preeti Devi, the Kakching High School Alumni Association president N Munal Meitei said that the association has been taking the initiative to provide financial aid for the academic journey of girl students in Kakching district.
He added that from the December of 2021 onwards, the association had been going through the bio-data of financially unprivileged girl students with good academic performance. After thorough evaluation of the data, Nongmaithem Preeti Devi who is preparing to study class 9 after passing class 8 from Kakching Higher Secondary School has been selected, he continued. Daughter of late Nongmaithem Mohon Singh, Preeti Devi’s mother Nongmaithem Nilamani Devi has been paralysed and unable to speak and walk, he mentioned.
Estimating the total annual expenses for her academics at about Rs 76,000, he assured that the association will continue to provide financial support regardless of any increases. Mentioning that the association had taken up the initiative for the development of women in the society, he invited the CSOs and other privileged individuals to follow their initiatives.
